Another TV pilot season is under way and two actresses from Ugly Betty fame have landed new gigs:

Jayma Mays who plays Henry’s girlfriend Charlie will star in Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office for NBC. Let’s hope they change the title before this show makes it on the air. The drama focuses around a “nice girl” dealing with the ruthlessness of working in a corporate environment. Sounds a little like a serious take of The Office.

Ava Gaudet who plays the scheming next door neighbor Gina Gambarro has been cast in See Jane Run on ABC. Which by the name alone sounds like a typical comedy about a desperate single woman looking for love, but thats just my opinon.

No idea yet on how this will affect their roles on Ugly Betty.

Is Naomi Campbelll going to guest star on Ugly Betty? Looks that way! The supermodels guest apperance was revealed by America Ferrera recently while she was apperaing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Actor Taye Diggs from the movie version of Rent and the recently cancelled ABC series Daybreak is also scheduled to appear.

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera was a presenter at the 2007 Film Independent’s Spirit Awards. While presenting an award with Scrubs actor Zach Braff America made a statement that some have considered to be anti Bush. When asked by Zach what traits did she have in common with America her namesake America responded: that she was a free spirited person and America is supposedly free or at least it would be in 2008. At no time did America mention George Bush by name. If you want to see the show for yourself it reairs Wednesday February 28 on the IFC at 6:30 pm.

Much like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Ugly Betty’s Christina is on the verge of tumbling over into darkness. Christina (played by Ashley Jensen from Extras fame) is the frumpy in house seamstress at Mode magazine and one of Betty’s best friends. But Christina is also an aspiring fashion designer and in a weak moment she did a “favor” for Wilhelmina, the deliciously evil creative director of Mode who will do anything to be editor and chief.

Once Christina found out that the anonymous package she dropped off at the police station was being used to have Bradford arrested she was upset and rightly so. Even though Wilhelmina has made several more attempts to get Christina to become The Third Musketeer Christina vowed she wanted no part of Wilhelmina’s scheming and conniving.

But Wilhelmina had one more card up her sleeve and ruthlessly took away Christina’s big chance to design a dress for Sarah Jessica Parker right as she was packing it up to go. At this point Christina only has two choices make a pact with the devil, or confess to Betty what she did. Each choice could be a disaster. Wilhelmina will probably stab her in the back again, and if Christina decides to help her she will probably feel guilty for betraying Betty and spilling her secrets to Wilhelmina.

If Christina confesses to Betty what she did the consequences could be even worse. Betty may never forgive her and the close friendship they once shared will be ruined. Also if Betty finds out what she did she will tell Daniel and he of course will use this information to help get his father out of jail or prove once and for all that Wilhelmina is trying to sabotage the magazine and maybe finally get her butt kicked out of there! Here’s hoping that Christina finds a third option.

And what does this mean for those at Mode?

I’m still having a hard time believing that Claire Meade really had Fey Summers killed. After all if your husband had been carrying on an affair for two decades why get mad towards the end of the affair? Claire knew that Bradford and Fey had a relationship well before it ended; her husband broke up with Fey when she confronted him and told him to choose so why have Fey murdered? Did she threaten to tell the world about the illicit affair? Was she blackmailing Claire to keep quiet? Or maybe there is more to the story.

In the last episode of Ugly Betty Claire indicated she was going to turn herself in, yet she goes home and we see Daniel waiting on her steps. If she had really wanted to turn herself in why didn’t she do it that day? Knowing Daniel and his strained relationship with his father will he try and talk his mother out of turning herself in?

If Claire does turn herself in and Bradford gets free heads at Mode are going to roll! Starting with Bradford’s very own daughter/son, Alexis. Having your father framed for murder and taking over his company is a little extreme just because he didn’t agree with your personal choices. Bradford has proved to be ruthless in the past and after Alexis ruining his reputation, having him arrested and making Meade Publications a laughing stock at Fashion Week Bradford probably won’t be too concerned with family ties.

Wilhelmina on the other hand may be able to avoid any blame. After all it wasn’t her who handed the information to the police it was Christina. Wilhelmina though ruthless is also an excellent strategist and so far she has completely managed to avoid blame for the cutthroat actions she has taken at the magazine. If Bradford finds out it was Christina who turned in the fake information to the police Christina will end up fired and Wilhelmina will claim complete ignorance of any wrong doing.

Okay Ugly Betty is on hiatus for a few weeks and all of us fans are just going to have to make our own entertainment. So I’ve been thinking about what each character will do next, first up is Betty and the Henry situation.

Betty is haunted by what Amanda said and in the last episode “Derailed” she has a weak moment and abandons Henry’s girlfriend Charlie in the subway platform. Although Charlie being missing gives Henry and Betty a temporary chance to reconnect and share their feelings with each other Charlie shows up wanting to stay with Henry and stay in New York.

If Betty wants Henry she might just have to fight for him! When Betty hears Charlie say she wants to stay in New York with Henry she gives them the tickets and walks away. A true nice girl Betty is not the type to break up a relationship or put her own needs before others.

So far Henry has impressed me with the way he treats Betty. He is kind and thoughtful and sees just how special Betty is. Even though he might still have feelings for Charlie their relationship is a little lukewarm. Not the passionate attraction and tender connection he and Betty seem to share. If he had known Betty and Walter were broken up I think he would have made his move.

Even if Henry decides at first to contiune seeing Charlie the close proximty of working together with Betty and seeing her every day will prove to irrestible to Henry. My prediction is Henry will realize Betty broke up with Walter because she didn’t love him anymore and now he needs to do the same thing with Charlie. Henry is going to announce to Betty exactly how he feels and these two are going to end up together. Of course this being only midway through the first season they might draw this situation out to the season finale. Let’s hope not though.

Last Thursday’s episode of Ugly Betty was another ratings winner with 9.1/14 rating. The combined talents of Lucy Liu, Jerry O’Connell and Judith Light in high profile guest starring roles kept the viewers tuned in and delivered ratings consistent from the previous week.

I hoped you tuned in since “Derailed” was the last new episode of Ugly Betty we will probably see until April! Ugly Betty helped ABC score 2nd in the ratings, once again Survivor was in the top spot for the hour with a 9.7/15 rating.

A huge Internet rumor has been circulating that America Ferrera and her beau where getting married. It is not true! America Ferrera and long time boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams are together and are quiet happy but they are not engaged. Episode #16

This episode of Ugly Betty starts with Betty dreaming and boy does she have some freaky dreams. First Claire shows up in her dreams (drinking of course) and threatens to kill Betty is she tells anyone she killed Fey Sommers. Then Henry shows up to talk about his girlfriend who Betty sees as an over made up, tramp and the two kiss right over Betty.

In the office Daniel and Alexis get off the elevator together they seem to be getting alone pretty well and Alexis even adjusts Daniel’s tie before they go there separate ways. Daniel offers Betty two tickets to a VP only party, she seems distracted and before he can get into his office she yells out that his mother had Fey Sommers killed.

Marc puts out a “gaypb” to find out why Alexis is being so chummy with Daniel. He finds out that she has no friends. Christina is asked to snitch on Betty and Daniel but says she wants no part. Wilhelmina orders Marc to be her new best friend, “Be her new Betty”. Marc replies “Guess I have to start eating potatoes”. Wilhelmina invites Alexis out to the ballet with her.

Daniel goes to see his father who tells him to get a lawyer but not just any lawyer, Grace Chin (Lucy Liu), “The Chin”, turns out to be a woman who Daniel was supposed to go on a date with in college but he ditched and never called. Becks tells him to give her a call she will be happy to hear from a man.

Betty is talking with Christina about Henry’s girlfriend who she is sure is a tramp. When Christian gets a call from Sarah Jessica Parker, she freaks out and Betty takes the call and does a rather funny Scottish accent. Christina is told she has to design a dress for Sarah Jessica Parker in 12 hours.

Betty then goes to Mode Cafeteria and runs into a new girl, they make friends and Betty invites her to the VP event before she finds out that her new friend Charlie (Jayma Mays) is actually Henry’s girlfriend. Betty is crushed! After lunch Betty tries to hide from Henry under Amanda’s desk. Of course Amanda rats her out. Henry thanks her for inviting Charlie out and says the only thing she’s been doing since she got there is watching TV in bed (ouch!). Amanda tells Betty “Watching nerd love is so tedious”. Amanda tells her to seize her inner Mode bitch and fight for her “dweeb”.

In the new episode of Ugly Betty “Derailed” Henry’s girlfriend Charlie (Jayma Mays) finally makes an apperance and Charlie and Betty become friends before Betty realizes who she is! Will the fragile bond between Santos and Justin established in last weeks episode grow stronger? Maybe not when Santos agrees to accompany Justin and Hilda to see a production of the so not macho musical Hairspray. The snowstorm has trapped Marc in the office with Christina (that should be good for some laughs). Hilda is in Cosmetology school and poor Ignacio gets to be her real life hair dummy.

The design a dress for Ugly Betty Competition is now over and the winner’s design will be featured on tonight’s episode. The challenge called for contestants to create a sketch for Mode seamstress Christina (Ashley Jensen). The design needed to reflect Christina having to create an elegant dress in only 12 hours (a hard enough task as is) for an A list celebrity.

To make matters worse she’s snowbound in the offices of Mode and has to use the supplies that are on hand such as tape, bubble wrap and paperclips. Out of 1800 submissions one was chosen (Ricardo Rodriguez of Fort Lauderdale). Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City fame is the A list actress who Christina has to design a dress for.

Tonight’s episode of Ugly Betty is almost here! But before it gets here let me take a moment and reassure you that last Thursday’s episode of Ugly Betty delivered well in the ratings. The new season of Survivor premiered last Thursday and took first place at the 8 p.m. hour with a 9.9 rating but Ugly Betty held its own and came in second place with a 9.1 rating only slightly down from the week before where it had a 9.3 rating.
