Kimmie gets what’s coming?

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Thursday’s new episode will have Kimmie showing her true mean colors and Betty in competition with her. From the preview, it looks like Kimmie has ruffled a few wrong feathers as it appears Marc and Amanda set her up for a big fall.

With the announcement that Lindsay Lohan’s guest appearance has been cut back, Thursday’s episode might be her final one. It will be interesting to see just how Kimmie ticks off Marc and Amanda. It must be pretty bad or either pretty petty to get those two on her bad side.

Episode 3.5 ‘Granny Pants’

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Here we are in week five of the new season and finally I have my ‘Ugly Betty’ woes worked out. As you may remember, I tape the shows and watch ‘Survivior.’ The past few weeks have been rocky with trying to videotape at my parent’s house and not being able to watch the show later at my house. Finally I’m able to pick up ABC and record the show at my home.

Now about the show. It was interesting. A little predictable but still have a few good moments that made it worthwhile. More details after the jump.

Ugly Rumors

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Yesterday I heard some rumors about Lindsay Lohan and America Ferrera. Lohan’s guest appearances on ‘Ugly Betty’ have been slashed from 6 to 4. The reasoning? Well, if you’re to believe what it being said, it’s because the two actors have been feuding.

It’s a little more than that as there are reports that Lohan is always late to the set, brings a huge entourage with her, and even trashed her dressing room. I saw this news on ‘Inside Edition’ but apparently it’s been in the New York Post’s gossip section as well.

What’s been leaked as problems between the two seems to be about power. Lohan is being accused of trying to be the star while Ferrera is acting childlish like pulling down Lohan’s pants during a scene rehearsal. The scene takes place in the episode.

All of these rumors are just that -rumors. I think they were leaked or made up to draw interest in Lohan’s guest appearance on ‘Betty.’ Apparently the ratings that guest star Lohan aren’t as great as ABC had hoped.

On a personal note, I think the side plot with Kimmie Keegan just isn’t as interesting as the already established stories. There are too many plots already in the works with the show to really focus on this one.

Kimmie’s Back

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Lindsay Lohan will guest star in the new ‘Ugly Betty’ episode entitled “Granny Pants.” Betty’s high school nemesis, Kimmie Keegan, asks Betty to help her find a job.

Apparently Betty helps Kimmie land a job at Mode where Kimmie seems to butt heads with a lot of Mode employees including Wilhemina. Has Willie found her match in Kimmie? Here’s a preview.

‘Betty Suarez Land’ Recap

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Oh happy day! I was finally about to watch ‘Ugly Betty’ the night it aired. Sorry for the late recap as this changing weather is getting to me and I feel a nasty cold coming on. I will try to keep my nasty germs to myself. This week’s episode again did not disappoint as it really delivered a great story. I did miss the first 20 minutes or so due to no sound, so my recap might not be complete. For that, I apologize and will try to get this whole taping down. You’d think I had never used a VCR before. Anyway, less of my drama and more Betty after the jump.

Preview of ‘Betty Suarez Land’

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Gio is back in tonight’s new episode of ‘Ugly Betty.” Apparently he is not in a forgiving mood even though Betty really tries her best to get him to forgive her. Or so the preview leads us to believe. Gio, is a strong-willed guy, so he may hold out on forgiving her.

Ignacio prepares to vote in his first election as a new citizen. Hilda is also reveling in the election as she is drawing quite the crowd to her shop.

Daniel learns some shocking family news. No doubt that it’s really Alexis who is Daniel, Jr.’s father, which we learned at the end of last week’s episode.

It should be a good one and hopefully one I will actually be able to watch at my house since as I type DirecTV is being installed. Still three hours to the show, so hopefully all we will be clear by tonight’s TV viewing.

Aye, Chihuahua

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Beverly Hills Chihuahua tops the box office charts for a second week in a row. Even Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio couldn’t dethrone this movie about a spoiled Beverly Hills chihuahua that must fend for herself on the streets of Mexico.

I haven’t seen this one yet, but Michael Urie who plays Marc on “Ugly Betty’ has a role in the movie. Michael lends his voice to the character of Sebastian. I’ve heard that this movie is actually pretty good. In fact I was a little surprised to see it number one in sales for the second week in a row. This might be a cute one to check out during a matinee.

Epsiode 3.2 - Crimes of Fashion Recap

Friday, October 10th, 2008

We are only on the third episode of the season and already it’s getting really good. I have to admit that I didn’t expect much out of this one since it seemed to center around one plot and basically thought it might be mostly ‘filler’ to get us to the next Mode crisis. Well I’m sorry that I ever doubted that this episode wouldn’t deliver on great, quality entertainment with a few twists thrown in for good measure.

Salma Hayek - half lesbian?!?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Talk about an ‘open mouth, insert foot’ moment. A British talk show host who misunderstood Salma as to say she was “half lesbian” asked the actress flat off if she was.

The host Eamonn Holmes asked Salma about her last name and said it didn’t sound very Mexican. Salma then said she was half-Lebanese - that is her father is from Lebanon. Holmes misunderstood and thought she had said she was half-lesbian and then asked her if she was. Salma remained cool and calm to the question. She leaned over and spoke very slowly the word “Lebanese.” Holmes then apologized for the faux pas.

The Northern Irish Holmes might have been having trouble understand Salma’s Mexican accent. However, some are questioning whether he actually misunderstood. Anyway, it seems the whole incident played out well with Salma handling the question like a pro and keeping her cool.

Salma was on the TV show to promote her joint efforts with UNICEF and Pampers to eradicate tetanus in mothers and babies in the next five years. She has been in Europe for the past month getting the word about this effort. Joining her on her trip is her one year old daughter Valentina.

In other Salma news, look for her to make a guest appearance on ‘30 Rock.’ Tina Fey asked Salma to do a guest role for 1 to 2 episodes. She will not be portraying herself but a fictional character. Salma joins an impressive list of guest stars to the NBC hit that include Jerry Seinfeld and Oprah Winfrey. She could be on the show as early as this week. It will be nice to see Salma on the small screen. Hopefully soon she will make an on screen return to ‘Ugly Betty.’

Episode 3 - Crimes of Fashion

Monday, October 6th, 2008

It’s a ‘whodunit’ episode as everyone is a suspect in the case. Christina has been pushed down a flight of stairs, but who did it? It could have been anyone. Betty is on the case.

Did Stuart do it? Or was it someone from Mode who is out to make sure that Christina doesn’t give birth to Wilhemina’s baby? From the preview, that is the only storyline that we are given. Mark Consuelos guest stars as the police detective investigating the case. From TV Guide.com it seems Ignacio learns something about Hilda and Coach Diaz. Hmm, could it be that he is married? As always, looking forward to the next episode this Thursday at 7pm central/8pm eastern.

Filing for the Enemy Recap

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

The second episode of the season titled ‘Filing for the enemy’ did not disappoint. Technical difficulties once again prevented me from watching my taped copy. I was able to finally watch it today. The season is getting back to the status quo while introducing new plots. More after the jump.

Filing for the Enemy

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

My watching episodes of ‘Ugly Betty’ woes continue. Last week I had taped the season premiere only to find that the tape would only play correctly on the one VCR, so I had to wait until Friday afternoon to watch the show. This week I tried a different approach with recording and wound up with an hour of static. Now I’m scrambling trying to watch it online which isn’t easy with satellite Internet. Literally it’s like watching 5 seconds, pause for 2 seconds, watch 5 seconds.

What I have watched so far hasn’t been that much. Daniel gets the book from Mode and makes his suggestions for the magazine, which Betty then gives to Alexa telling her that they are good suggestions from someone who cares about the magazine. Wilhemina seems pretty ticked by this and looks to set in motion to hire Betty(I’m assuming this but this is where I left off watching it as I couldn’t take the stops and stutters any longer.)

I’m hoping to see the rest of the episode sometime this weekend and write a proper recap.

Silvio Horta Interview

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Looking to know what is in store for Betty and the rest of the characters on ‘Ugly Betty’ this year? You can gain some insight with this interview with Silvio Horta - the executive producer of the hit TV series.

In the interview with AfterElton.com, Horta talks some about the direction he would like to see some characters take and how the strike cut short some story lines. It’s definitely a good read especially while you’re waiting for the second episode which airs tonight at 7pm central/8pm eastern.

Episode 3.02 Preview

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The second episode of ‘Ugly Betty’ will have Betty contemplating a return to work at Mode. Wilhemina has offered her a job to come work for her. Betty is - to say the least - apprehensive about working for the woman who pushed her boss out of his job as editor on Mode.

There is a longer preview at ABC that shows more of the exchange of the offer given to Betty by Wilhemina and Betty’s response. Only one more day! Where has the week gone by? It just seems like yesterday was the premiere.
