Ugly Betty honored with Peabody Awards

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

“Inspired by an internationally popular telenovela, this Americanized version defies category. It’s part comedy, part drama, part soap opera, part fashion-industry satire – but is unmistakably graced with wry intelligence and heart.” The Peabody Awards announcements of Ugly Betty’s win

Ugly Betty has been honored with a Peabody award for outstanding comedy series. The Peabody awards are an international award that honors the best in electronic media. Started in 1941 the Peabody Awards have the distinction of being the oldest award in electronic media as well as the most prestigious. The 66th annual awards ceremony will take place on June 4 in New York City at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel where Bob Costas of HBO’s Costas Now will be the master of ceremonies. Other entertainment series honored include NBC’s Scrubs and The Office.

Vanessa Williams sits and poses with her star, and then poses with her entire family. Including her brother and felllow actor Chris Williams (grey suit) from Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Curb Your Enthusiasm fame.

America Ferrera wins SAG Award!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

The 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards aired this past Sunday on TNT and TBS. Our favorite “ugly girl” America Ferrera took home an award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series!

The SAG awards are one of the most prestigious honors a television actor can win, second only to the Emmy’s. The SAG awards are voted on by the entire membership of the Screen Actors Guild.

America was nominated with three of the same actresses she beat our for the Golden Globe win: Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), Julia
Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine) and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds).

*The Ugly Betty cast was also nominated for best ensemble cast but lost to NBC’s the Office.

America Ferrara won the Golden Globe last night for Best Comic Actress on TV. You would think this would be enough, but the show itself, Ugly Betty, won for Best Television Series - Musical Or Comedy just moments before. And as you can see in these photos below, America is anything but ugly.
