Watching Ugly Betty

Daniel is lying in bed with Grace when he finds out she is going to meet with his mother in the morning and panics. Daniel lies and says his mother is having a relapse since her husband has been arrested and hiding out somewhere. Daniel then checks his mother into the Regent Hotel and tells her not to talk to anyone.

Betty is at her orthodontist’s office and gets new braces put in and flirts a little with her orthodontist (Gabe). Then she runs into Charlie and Henry at the office elevators and gets invited to Charlie’s birthday party. Henry tells Betty after Charlie leaves that she doesn’t have to come if she feels awkward, but Betty assures him she will be there.

Amanda and Marc are at her desk talking when she gets a package delivered from Oswald Lorenzo. Amanda was at a party the night before and shoved the girl he was talking to away so she could talk to him and thinks that impressed him. It’s a silver shrink wrap rubber looking dress called “The Amanda” she puts it on immediately.

Alexis tries to make peace with Wilhelmina over her betrayal by offering her a scarf. Wilhelmina isn’t willing to forgive and says the scarf will make a nice present for her cleaning lady. Alexis explains to Wilhelmina that Daniel turned his back on their father for her and she has to give him a chance. Wilhelmina tells her she has big man hands and completely dismisses her with pure divatude. While in Wilhelmina’s office Grace Chin comes on the news and Alexis finds out that she is the lawyer defending her father. As she leaves Wilhelmina tells Marc they will have to make sure Daniel disappoints Alexis.

Daniel is talking with Betty in his office and lets it slip that he is sleeping with Grace Chin. Daniel tells Betty she can’t tell anyone, and tells Betty to get Christina to send her the Katherine Maladrone dress.

Betty is an awful liar and lets it slip to Christina that they are sleeping together Betty swears her to secrecy as well. Christina finds out Betty is going to Charlie’s birthday party and points out to Betty that Henry broke her heart (using examples of her tissues from the trash can) and asks Betty why she is putting herself through this torture. Betty says she doesn’t want to lose him as a friend. Christina tells Betty to take a date. Betty arranges a little brace accident and gets back to see her orthodontist. Then she asks Gabe out.

Alexis storms into Daniels meeting and tells him Grace Chin is defending their father. Daniel doesn’t act to upset, Alexis gets suspicious and asks Daniel if he already knew, of course he lies. Alexis reminds Daniel not to forget the hell he’s put them all through (including driving their mother to drink hand sanitizer) plus she actually believes Bradford killed Fey Sommers.

Marc is watching the whole time. Wilhelmina blackmails Christina again to confess what she knows about the missing Katherine Maladrone dress and finds out about the affair. She tells Marc to follow Daniel and get proof that he’s sleeping with his lawyer.

Ignacio tries to discuss his case with Constance as she has him sampling International Coffees. Instead she hits on him but Ignacio rejects her advances. Later Hilda and Justin get home Ignacio is hiding with the lights off, telephone unplugged, and the TV off. He asks them if they are alone. Ignacio is traumatized and scared. Constance is stalking him and he is trying to hide out in the house. Hilda says the situation is getting out of hand and says she will talk to her.

Daniel tracks down his mother having a meeting with Grace. He tells his mother not to incriminate herself and tells her she’s already done enough damage to her family. He tells his mother to go back to the Regent Hotel and not talk to anyone. Daniel then decides to distract Grace by having sex with her in public (coat room). Marc already overheard Daniels conversation with his mother now he records Daniel and Grace having sex using his camera phone.

Betty and Gabe are at Charlie’s party. Betty sees the cake and her and Henry bond since it’s both of their favorites (Chocolate Raspberry Cake). Charlie seems to notice the vibes and looks a little jealous. Henry (slyly) starts digging for information about Betty’s date and asks how long they’ve been seeing each other. Henry looks jealous and Charlie (maybe because she notices the attraction between Betty and Henry) begins gushing over how great they look together and how great a couple they are). Charlie shares that she and Henry just bought a couch. Gabe makes a joke that after buying furniture its time to get a mortgage Henry replies firmly it’s just a couch and Charlie (once again) looks upset.

Hilda giving Constance a make over to make her look like Beyonce and Constance asks Hilda advice on getting Ignacio interested… Hilda tells Constance that Ignacio has been seeing someone for a while now and just didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Constance says she is okay with that and it’s his lost. Then she tells Hilda to give her a Mariah Carey hair style instead.

Henry and Charlie go to dance, Betty and Gabe follow. Betty and Henry keep sneaking looks at each other as they dance (heartbreakingly sad). Betty gets a call as she’s dancing. It’s Claire Meade who tells her to come over to the Regent and bring a company credit card. Betty asks her date to go with her. When Betty shows up Claire tells her she’s getting on an airplane and going to disappear, somewhere where she can’t hurt her family anymore. Betty claims she doesn’t have the credit card on her since she left it at her home.

When Gabe comes up to the room Claire mentions Henry the accountant and lets Betty’s feelings for him slip. Betty reassures Gabe that she and Henry are long over and they are just friends now. Claire says she kills everything.

Wilhelmina makes sure that the tape of Daniel and Grace ends up in Alexis’ hands. Wilhelmina then makes a surprise visit to her office as soon as she finished watching it. When Alexis comments that she can’t believe Daniel betrayed her, Wilhelmina reminds Alexis that she betrayed her and then walks out.

Amanda continues to shuffle around the office in the dress that she can’t even lift her arms in. Christina goes in bathroom at work and hears someone begging for help. She opens the stall and it’s Amanda who hasn’t been able to pee all day. She had to stand over the toilet then couldn’t get back down; Christina has to give her a piggy back ride off of the toilet.

Daniel is in bed with the Grace (again) and she mentions she wants to finish the interview with his mother in the morning. Daniel of course starts stammering all over himself and Grace tells him she’s already y figured out that Claire killed Fey Sommers. Grace tells Daniel she can get her off, and then Alexis shows up furious.

Betty and Gabe take Claire to Betty’s house in Queens. Gabe tells her he wants to leave but Betty tells him to wait since this is only going to take a few seconds. Claire tells Betty again that she killed Fey Sommers and she wants to leave. After Claire confessed to murder again Gabe is scared and wants to leave. Betty tells him their just playing a game, name that quote.

Claire introduces herself to Ignacio. He thinks that Gabe is Henry. Claire explains that the accountant has a girlfriend and her date is Gabe her orthodontist. Claire tells Ignacio she’s seen the accountant and he’s much hotter. Gabe tries to leave again. Ignacio goes to fix Claire some coffee. Constance is outside the window with bright blonde hair looking crazy!

Alexis shows Daniel and Grace the tape and says she wants Grace off of their father’s case, or she will show the tape to the judge in the case or release it online. Grace decides to quit and says the whole family needs therapy. Daniel tells Alexis that Claire actually killed Fey Sommers not their father and she just put their mother in prison by running off the best lawyer in town.

Constance bangs angrily on the Suarez family door and tells Claire she’s the hoe whose been stealing her man. Claire insults her then they get into a shoving match and accidentally slap Gabe.

Ignacio takes Constance into the kitchen; she thinks Ignacio is going to marry Claire to get his green card. Ignacio tells her he is not going anywhere and asks her why she keeps stalking him. She straps an electronic tracking device to his leg when he turns around which is set to go off if he leaves the house and tells him she will know where he is every moment of every day!

Betty finally comes downstairs and Gabe says it’s obvious that she still has feelings for Henry, and everyone else can see that too. Betty apologizes and he leaves. Betty finally gives Claire a card it’s only her library card though. Betty is still trying to stall until Daniel can get there. Betty tells Claire she can’t run away her whole family has to deal with the consequences of what she has done. Claire responds that she doesn’t have much of a family.

Claire makes Betty promise not to make the same mistake she did (watching the man she loved love someone else) then asks Betty what she should do. Betty tells her they both need to be strong and face what they don’t want to no matter how scared they are because that’s the only way they can live with themselves.

Claire calls the police and turns herself in. Police, reporters and even helicopters are all over the Suarez front lawn and Daniel and Alexis are both there as Claire is arrested. Wilhelmina is gloating as she watches the news and tells Marc and Christina they both have done a good job. Christina is distraught over being included in their diabolical plans.

The next day Amanda receives another package. At first she tells the deliveryman that the dress was completely humiliating and she looked ridiculous. Then he tells her that’s because she didn’t have the matching hat! She puts it on (it looks like a rubber wizards cap) The guy walks away and goes over to talk to the “skank” that Amanda shoved at the party turns out she sat up the whole thing They have a good laugh at Amanda’s gullibility.

Henry walks over to Betty’s desk and asks if she wants to get together with him and Charlie for lunch. Betty tells Henry that right now she can’t spend time with them and they can’t be friends. They are just two people who work in the same office. Henry leaves the piece of cake he saved for Betty and walks away.The phone rings and Betty focuses on her work.
