The NAACP Image Awards Can’t Be Stopped!
Richard T. Jones and Kevin Frazier announce the 39th Annual NAACP Image Awards nominations

The Golden Globes was a wilted down version of their normal alcohol party with crazy dresses and lots of bling. After failing to reach a compromise with the Writers Guild of America the Golden Globes were a boring press conference that few bothered to watch. Even though America Ferrera was nominated in Ugly Betty’s sole recognition (Yes I am holding a grudge) for best actress she lost to Tina Fey of 30 Rock.
Luckily for us Ugly Betty fans other awards shows were wiser The NAACP Image Awards and The Film Independent’s Spirit Awards have both received waivers and will go forward as planned.
Ugly Betty has received several NAACP nominations. These include: outstanding comedy series, best actress nominees for America Ferrera and a best supporting actress nominee for Vanessa Williams. The show was also nominated for outstanding writing (Silvio Hortia and Marco Pennette) for the episode “A Nice Day For A Posh Wedding”
In addition Vanessa Williams film My Brother has been nominated for outstanding independent film. Vanessa was nominated and won in her category last year. Let’s hope for a repeat.
